Paper Prints Policy

1. Purpose of Paper Prints Policy: The Paper Prints Policy of the Pakistan Journal of Artificial Intelligence in Medical Research (PJAIMR) establishes the guidelines for the availability and distribution of printed copies of the journal's articles. This policy is designed to ensure that printed copies of the journal are distributed efficiently and in accordance with ethical, environmental, and business considerations.

2. Availability of Paper Prints: PJAIMR follows an open access policy for all of its published content, with a primary focus on online publication. Printed versions of the journal will be made available to institutions, libraries, authors, and special requesters under the following conditions:

  • Printed Copies for Institutional Subscriptions: Institutions (e.g., universities, research institutions, libraries) that subscribe to the journal may receive a limited number of printed copies, depending on their subscription package.

  • Printed Copies for Authors: Authors of accepted articles may request a limited number of printed copies of their published work.

  • Printed Copies on Request: Printed copies of specific articles or entire journal issues may be made available upon request, with costs associated with production and distribution.

3. Print Format: Printed copies of the journal will be available in standard academic formats, which will include:

  • Full Issues: Complete issues of PJAIMR, which include all articles published in the respective issue.

  • Individual Articles: Authors, institutions, or other stakeholders may request individual printed articles from a specific issue.

The printed format will include:

  • A cover page with journal details (title, volume, issue number, and date of publication).

  • The full article content with all figures, tables, and references as published in the digital version.

  • A DOI (Digital Object Identifier) reference for each article.

4. Distribution and Delivery:

  • Online Request System: Interested parties can request printed copies via the journal’s official website or customer service.

  • Delivery Options: Printed copies will be sent via standard mail or courier services, with shipping costs borne by the requesting party.

  • Bulk Orders: For bulk orders, institutions or organizations may be eligible for discounted rates on printed copies, subject to availability and cost.

  • Geographical Availability: Printed copies will be available globally; however, international shipping may incur additional charges, particularly for regions outside Pakistan.

5. Costs Associated with Printed Copies: Printed copies of the journal will incur a production and shipping fee, which will depend on:

  • Quantity Ordered: Discounts may apply for bulk orders.

  • Destination: Shipping fees will be based on the delivery location (domestic or international).

  • Subscription Type: Institutions with full subscription packages may be eligible for complimentary printed copies of the journal or individual issues.

6. Environmental Considerations: PJAIMR encourages the promotion of digital publications to minimize environmental impact. As part of our commitment to sustainability, we encourage authors, readers, and institutions to prioritize the digital format for ease of access and to reduce paper waste. However, we recognize that printed versions may still be necessary for specific purposes, and as such, we have implemented the following sustainable practices:

  • Use of Recycled Paper: Printed copies will be produced using recycled paper, wherever feasible, to minimize the environmental impact.

  • Print on Demand: The journal adopts a print-on-demand model, ensuring that printed copies are only produced when necessary, thus minimizing excess printing and reducing waste.

7. Copyright and Distribution:

  • Copyright Agreement: Authors retain the copyright to their articles, as specified in the copyright transfer agreement. PJAIMR retains the right to distribute and print copies of the articles for educational and research purposes.

  • Reproduction and Distribution: Printed copies of articles may not be reproduced for commercial purposes without the express permission of the journal and the authors.

8. No Print Policy for Some Articles: Certain articles may be excluded from the print distribution due to:

  • Publisher Agreements: If the article is under a specific licensing agreement with a third-party publisher.

  • Financial Constraints: Articles with complex or sensitive content may not be available for printing if they involve higher production costs or ethical concerns.

  • Technical Limitations: Some articles with heavy multimedia content (e.g., videos or interactive data visualizations) may not be suitable for printing.

9. Policy on Withdrawn or Retired Articles: In case an article is withdrawn or retracted after printing, a retraction notice will be published in subsequent issues. However, since printed versions of past issues are already distributed, PJAIMR is not obligated to recall or alter those copies. Authors and institutions are encouraged to rely on the online version for the most current and accurate information.
